| All of our bamboo plugs are made with bamboo that is grown and harvested in the United States. We choose domestically grown bamboo because before crossing our borders, most imported bamboo is sprayed with pesticides, which could be potentially harmful to your ears. We typically use black and common yellow bamboo, but sometimes we come across other species such as golden bamboo (which is cut by us in Louisiana). Other types may pop up here and there as I stumble upon them.
Equipped for Eternity bamboo is hand cut, polished several times over, and then treated with a mixture of jojoba oil, almond oil, and olive oil. All plugs are measured down to 1/32 of an inch, in order to let you know exactly what size the plugs are. We try to keep all sizes in stock so that your plugs can be shipped out the next day, but some sizes run out sooner than others—the wait can be up to two weeks but no more than that. Node cuts in particular run out quickly. Several examples of what we have in stock can be found in the store, but custom orders in certain sizes and node cuts may require at least a week’s wait. Bamboo is a sustainable material with known antifungal and antibacterial properties. Some even say it’s indestructible, but bamboo does require proper care. In colder climates it can dry up and split, so it is important to keep bamboo in a moist or humid storage case and to make sure it’s well oiled. Bamboo is water resistant, but overexposure to water can contribute to deterioration. Please feel free to inquire for further information about the nature of bamboo and having custom work made just for you. |
